Oakland’s Police Department’s change in leadership took effect Saturday.
Assistant Chief James Beere begins as interim chief after former police chief Floyd Mitchell stepped down.
In Oakland, people were out enjoying the day in their city and willing to share their thoughts on the turnover at the top at the Oakland Police Department.
“I can’t say that I didn’t expect it, or it was a surprise it’s just a little disheartening,” said Tracey Bell-Borden of Oakland.
Now they’re talking about leadership, the next police chief and what they’d like to see when it comes to tackling crime and other issues.
