Trump, who was deeply involved in their selection, hailed the honourees as the 'most accomplished and renowned class' ever assembled.

Breaking from previous presidential tradition, Trump relocated the medal ceremony to the Oval Office. Each honouree received a newly designed medallion by Tiffany & Co.
