It’s not quite Christmas yet. So, I don’t consider this my Christmas column. It may be that I write about the holiday all month. In addition, I could write about the holiday in which we celebrate the birth of Christ every week and never even begin to touch all which could be said.

In the Book of James, 1:27, it reads, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” I’m not sure Christians take this as seriously as we should. It takes some movement to follow this scripture. And while I’m in no way a Bible scholar, it’s hard for me to believe a phone call, text message, or any other modern form of communication, qualifies as visiting.
