MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Central Catholic took a tough loss in its season opener against La Salle College High School.
Losing to the Explorers with a state title on the line will be a lot harder to swallow.
Sophomore receiver Owen Johnson scored three touchdowns, two from Missouri quarterback recruit Gavin Sidwar and a third on a wide receiver option from Notre Dame commit Joey O’Brien as La Salle College (13-1) captured the PIAA Class 6A championship with a 34-20 victory against Central Catholic (13-2) Saturday night at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field.
It was the second state championship for La Salle College, which had not won a state championship since it defeated State College, 24-7, at Hersheypark Stadium in 2009. The Explorers only other state finals appearance was in 20
