Dr. Diego Ramonfaur is often sleep-deprived.
In his third year of an internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Ramonfaur faces schedule changes every one or two weeks. With workloads that vary depending on the rotation, going to sleep and waking up at a consistent time is impossible. Advertisement
So Ramonfaur, 30, turned to sleep banking — a strategy of getting extra sleep that some people use before a time when they know they'll be sleep-deprived.
