WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Gingerbread Village, a popular holiday event, took place Saturday at Exploration Place.
Many families in Wichita have participated in this event for years, making it a family tradition. Volunteers have spent hundreds of hours getting ready for this weekend by making kits that include graham crackers, candy and toppings.
The event brings together families from multiple generations as they build gingerbread houses together.
“We have some folks that are so into it, I guess so love not having to clean their own space afterwards, that they come and bring their own extras,” said Laura Roddy, the VP for Advancement at Exploration Place. “So they come as a group of 10 or 12, and they get extra icing and extra candy and extra bags of cereal just to create.”
