SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah family is grieving and calling for the public’s help after a 62-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run Tuesday evening near the intersection of Redwood Road and North Temple.

Family members said Alan Blackburn died shortly after being hit.

“Everybody’s really heartbroken,” said Becky Blackburn, Alan Blackburn’s sister-in-law. “Two hours before [the crash], he was here visiting with us, talking about our Christmas decorations. Then he ran to Mom and Dad’s house and told them he loved them and had to go run an errand.”

Alan was crossing the street around 6:45 p.m. when, according to Becky, a dark-colored SUV struck him. The driver left the scene without stopping to render aid.
