The Wisconsin men’s hockey team climbed back to the top of the Big Ten standings Saturday, Dec. 6 and it's going to stay there for a while.
In the final Big Ten series of 2025, the Badgers defeated Notre Dame, 9-2, at Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Indiana, to complete a sweep of the series.
Later that evening Michigan, the No. 1 team in the USCHO poll, lost, 3-1 to No. 3 Michigan State.
The combination of those results moved the second-ranked Badgers into first place in the Big Ten. They have 22 points, two better than Michigan.
Big Ten play resumes Jan. 9.
In beating Notre Dame, Wisconsin scored its most goals in a game since an 11-5 win over Merrimack on Oct. 12, 2019 and its most goals versus a conference opponent since a 9-1 win over Colorado College Jan. 14, 2006.
