LONGVIEW – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets snapped a four-game skid and picked up their third win of the basketball season, 54-44, at LeTourneau Saturday.

The Lady Jackets (3-6) trailed 13-12 after one quarter, grabbed a 23-18 halftime lead, and carried a 43-30 advantage into the fourth period.

HPU shot 37 percent (21 of 56) from the floor, 20 percent (4 of 20) on three-pointers, and 73 percent (8 of 11) at the free throw line, while LeTourneau hit 34 percent (17 of 49) of its shots, 47 percent (8 of 17) of its treys, and 100 percent (2 of 2) of its free throws.

Outrebounded 39-24, Howard Payne made up for that by forcing 34 turnovers while committing just 15. The Lady Jackets finished the game with 37 points off turnovers.
