INDIANAPOLIS — Family and friends gathered Saturday to remember 14-year-old Fred Williams, who died two months after being hit by a car on North Arlington Avenue.
Williams was struck in September while walking home from a gas station, a trip his family said he made often. He died from his injuries on Nov. 25, just days before Thanksgiving, leaving his family devastated.
“Just that one day, he got hit by a car,” his mother Chandra Jones said. “Someone [was] speeding and my son is gone.”
Jones said she grew worried when Williams didn’t return home on time. When she stepped outside and saw flashing lights down the block, she said she knew something was wrong.
“I knew it was my son because of the time lapse and everything,” she said. “I knew my son was supposed to be back home.”
