Windsor Spitfires’ head coach Greg Walters knew what was coming.
However, his players failed to heed his warning and an early two-goal deficit would eventually lead to a 3-2 loss in overtime to the London Knights on Friday at the WFCU Centre.
“I didn’t like our start,” Walters said. “I told them they were going to come out physical, they always do after a loss, and they were definitely more physical.”
Let’s put it in perspective
The Spitfires had been full marks for back-to-back wins over the defending Memorial Cup champions this season.
But, after Friday’s 4-1 loss to the Spitfires on home ice, the Knights had no intention of simply handing over another two points on Saturday.
“I thought we just stuck to the system,” said London’s Evan Van Gorp, who assisted on the overtime winner.
