ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KY3) - Lee’s Summit’s Preston Hatfield was too much for Nixa in a 41-37 loss in the Class 6 state title game for the Eagles.

Hatfield carried 33 times for 457 yards and four touchdowns. It smashed the Show-Me Bowl record of 289 yards set by Vianney’s Kyren Williams, who is currently a running back for the Los Angeles Rams.

The game was back and forth throughou,t with the two teams trading blows through the first half.

Each team scored on its first three possessions of the game to tie the contest at 21-21.

Preston Hatfield had the first two touchdowns and the big play to set up the third.
