Labour’s biggest union backer is considering splitting from the party due to “intense frustration” with Sir Keir Starmer, it has been reported.

Officials in Unite are now considering whether to call an emergency conference to vote on formally splitting from the party.

One Labour MP told The Daily Telegraph , that Unite may only be won back by replacing Starmer as leader.

“This is a major union, it is a major player within the wider Labour movement,” the MP said. “It is a critically important relationship – but it has become dysfunctional.”
