The streets of Liverpool are 'awash' with counterfeit cash as businesses struggle to spot the fakes. Business owners on County Road say even a couple of dodgy transactions can seriously affect their daily takings.

Multiple businesses on the north Liverpool high street and the surrounding area have reported customers attempting to use counterfeit cash in recent weeks as they count the cost of lost merchandise, the Liverpool Echo reported.

The ECHO has seen several Liverpool-based social media accounts offering fake bank notes for sale on platforms such as Instagram, Telegram, and Whatsapp. When the ECHO visited, Perpetina Lourdusamy, 56, stands behind the till at the Go Local on County Road.
