Toys are more than just playthings. They spark children's imaginations and help them explore their sense of adventure. Toys encourage children to pursue their own unique interests and to share. Not least of all, toys fill kids' hearts with joy and make them smile.

Every holiday season, however, there are children who don't get to experience that joy.

On a car ride through Thermal and Mecca a few years ago, I had a eureka moment. I thought, "I'll bet our area farm workers' kids don't get too many toys at Christmas. Some maybe not at all."

So my partner, Steve Lautenbach, and I decided to do something about it.
