Kim Kardashian has been a household name ever since she became a reality star, but she just made an announcement about the origin of her famous moniker.

In a new interview with Time , the 45-year-old revealed that she changed her name ever-so slightly before her family appeared on E!’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” in 2007.

“I used to always go by Kimberly, until we signed on to do the reality show,” she said.

The “All’s Fair” star went on to explain that she was inspired to shorten her name when she saw how it looked onscreen.

“And when I looked at my chyron, Kimberly Kardashian, I said, ‘I think that’s so long for people to say.’ And like, ‘Let’s just shorten it to Kim,’” she said.
