SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - With another round of winter storms rolling through Siouxland, veterinarians are sending some public service announcements to pet owners.

“If it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your dog,” said Dr. Jacey Johnson with the Siouxland Animal Hospital

A veterinarian who knows firsthand how dangerous these times can be for our furry friends.

“There can be ice melts and things like that on the ground that you definitely want to wipe off as they come in doors,” said Johnson. “Some of those, even if they’re labeled pet safe, they can be a little bit abrasive on the paws.”

Johnson says that if pets have to be outdoors, it’s extremely important to keep them out of the wind, and off of the direct ground.
