WAUSAU − The 2025 Wausau Area Food for Hope Turkey Drive officially reached its fundraising target of $23,000, ensuring hundreds of families across Marathon County will enjoy a holiday meal this season.

The annual initiative, led by Rob Hughes, a special education teacher at NTC Alternative High School, wrapped up its final distribution event on Nov. 20 at Lamb’s Fresh Market in Rib Mountain. Volunteers handed out 1,300 hams and turkeys to families in need, according to a community announcement.

“We did it! Hitting the $23,000 goal for the Food for Hope Turkey Drive feels absolutely incredible, and it's 100% thanks to the Wausau community,” Hughes said. “Every donation, every fundraiser, every student and staff member from the Wausau School District who stepped up made this possible.”
