The Komets celebrated Military Appreciation Night with a 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday at Memorial Coliseum in front of 7,032 fans.
After a scoreless first period, defensive mistakes by the Komets opened the door for Cincinnati to score the game’s first goal. Defenseman Reece Harsch was slow to collect a puck behind the net, then defenseman Jalen Smereck lost the puck in front of the net to give Cyclones forward Luke Grainger an easy shot and score.
The Komets tied the game at 1 on a power-play started with a slashing penalty called on Grainger. Komets forward Odeen Tufto, in his first game back from a broken leg, had his shot rebounded by forward Austin Magera for the goal.
