NEW ORLEANS — It’s a long road to recovery for Jamaica after , but organizations and businesses in Louisiana are stepping in to help.

Josh Gill, Incident Commander for the United Cajun Navy, landed in Jamaica on Sunday to deliver food, water and supplies to families struggling in the aftermath. Photos he shared show widespread destruction, flattened homes, and scattered debris.

“Some people have lost family, lost all of everything that they possibly own,” Gill said. “You look at the property — if it’s farmland, their land’s been destroyed, their crops have been destroyed.”

Gill said the volunteer-led Louisiana group is working alongside faith leaders and faith-based organizations to reach smaller, hard-to-access communities across the island.
