LAUREL, Md. — A Laurel man is facing charges after police say he lit his apartment on fire Sunday night. The two-alarm fire displaced an unknown number of residents and sent the suspect to the hospital. However, the fire was not the first time authorities were called to the apartment that day.
According to Prince George's County Police, an anonymous call was made at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, indicating that a man had thrown a dog and several items from a third-floor balcony. The dog was not harmed. Officers arrived at the 9500 block of Muirkirk Road, and they spent two hours trying to make contact with the man inside, but were unsuccessful.
Officers then spoke with a woman who is believed to reside in that unit, but wasn't home. Officers advised her to obtain an emergency petition service (EPS)
