BILLINGS, Mont. - Law enforcement is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Billings Heights, according to the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office in a social media post.
YCSO said deputies were dispatched to reports of a person that had been shot outside of a residence on Lake Elmo Drive at around 4:15 a.m.
YCSO said the man had no "apparent connection" to the residence. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Billings police officers also responded to a car crash on Wicks Lane at around the same time. The car's occupants had fled the crash site, according to YCSO.
" The investigation is continuing, to see if there is any connection between the injured man and the vehicle," YCSO said.
