WASHINGTON — A person of interest related to the shooting of New York Jets player Kris Boyd is in custody, the U.S. Marshal's Buffalo office has confirmed .

Fredrick Green, 20, from the Bronx surrendered himself to authorities on Monday in Amherst, a suburb east of Buffalo, New York, as investigators searched an apartment complex near the University of Buffalo.

Green's arrest comes weeks after the NYPD released images of the wanted gunman.

The Buffalo suburb is nearly 400 miles and a 6-hour drive from New York City, where the shooting took place on Nov. 16.

It is believed that Green altered his physical appearance and fled New York City to avoid getting caught, the U.S. Marshal's said. He now faces charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
