On Monday afternoon, the Decatur Police Department announced the arrest of two illegal aliens and five others as part of an online child exploitation sting.
The department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit conducted Operation Home Alone over the course of 10 days, with officers from the group communicating with individuals who believed they were in contact with a minor. Those arrested planned to meet in person for the purpose of engaging in sex acts with a child. Upon their arrival at a prearranged meeting place, they were taken into custody.
DPD offered a warning to local parents about their children's online activity.
"The Decatur Police Department is committed to proactively seeking out those who take advantage of the most vulnerable in our community," DPP said.
