BRAINERD — A 38-year-old Brainerd man was sentenced for domestic assault as part of a plea agreement.

Donald Joel Aleman Jr. pleaded guilty in Crow Wing County District Court to one count of felony domestic assault and was sentenced Oct. 20 to 30 months confinement. He was given 859 days' credit for time served. All other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

In Minnesota, a sentence consists of a minimum term of imprisonment equal to two-thirds of the total sentence, and supervised release equal to one-third of the total sentence.

According to court documents, on May 17, 2023, law enforcement was made aware of possible criminal sexual conduct and physical abuse that occurred to an 11-year-old child.
