A coroner has questioned how a frail woman who died aged 94 'disappeared off the face' of a council's social services radar after a high-level package of care had been agreed for her. Bury Council has 'acknowledged failings' over the death in March 2019 of Lillian Walsh, an inquest into her death heard on Monday.
Her son, Graham Walsh, was convicted in January this year of two counts of neglect in relation to her care, but claims there was a lack of support from the council's social care operation.
Mrs Walsh, a retired accountant who was described as a 'pleasant, traditional houseproud woman', was admitted to hospital in 2017 after a fall at her home in Ramsbottom , Bury. She was then transferred to Elmhurst Care Home in Bury, a short-stay service in Unsworth.
