DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - A Des Moines police sergeant was among three people injured in a crash on Sunday night.
According to the Des Moines Police Department, a car driver tried to pass another vehicle while traveling southbound on Merle Hay Road and lost control. The car spun into the northbound lanes and crashed into a patrol car and a pick-up truck.
Police say the sergeant and pick-up truck passenger suffered minor injures. The car driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police said road conditions can change quickly during this time of year and are reminding drivers to slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, and avoid driving distracted or impaired.
The crash remains under investigation.
