GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks man was sentenced Monday, Dec. 8, to 20 years for Class AA felony gross sexual imposition.
Marshawn Howard Wooten, 30, pleaded guilty to the crime, which has a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
While aged 29, on May 11, Wooten raped a 14-year-old girl, according to an affidavit of probable cause summary filed in the case.
He was granted a plea agreement that called for 20 years with the North Dakota Department of Corrections, followed by 10 years of supervised probation. Wooten has credit for 208 days served. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
