SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Drury University student is developing the first database designed to connect local playwrights directly with Missouri schools, potentially making theatre more accessible across the state.
Katie Mizell, a senior theatre administration major from Lebanon, created the Missouri Playwrights Educational Database to address barriers facing small theatre programs.
“When I started, I didn’t expect that I was going to move any further with it. I just thought it was going to be an idea,” Mizell said.
The database will give Missouri playwrights a platform to share their scripts with theatre departments throughout the state. The system aims to help playwrights get their work performed while reducing costs for school programs.
