President Donald Trump is sending $12 billion in relief aid to farmers who have been hurt by trade wars with other nations.

Trump said during a roundtable event at the White House on Monday that the aid will come from tariff revenues.

The big picture: Around $11 billion of the aid will go to the new Farmer Bridge Assistance Program under the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That will provide one-time payments to row crop farmers. • The other $1 billion will support farmers whose crops are not covered under the program.
