Center City of Amarillo ushered in the holiday season Friday night, Dec. 5 as thousands lined Polk Street for the annual Electric Light Parade, a long-running tradition that once again turned downtown into a corridor of lights, music and festive West Texas flair.
This year’s theme, “A West Texas Christmas,” inspired more than 70 entries ranging from community groups to local businesses. Tonya Tyler served as the volunteer parade chair, with Riley Shankles, president of the Center City board of directors, and event coordinator Sallye Hand helping lead the effort.
