CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Thieves broke into nearly 30 cars at two Cleveland churches Sunday while congregations worshipped inside, leaving parking lots covered in shattered glass and church-goers to pay for the damage.
The break-ins occurred within two hours of each other at churches on opposite sides of the city, prompting police to investigate whether the same suspects targeted both locations.
The first incident happened Sunday morning at St. Stephen’s Church on West 54th Street.
Police said about 20 cars had their windows broken in the parking lot.
Thieves rummaged through several cars and stole items, according to police.
Just two hours after the West 54th Street incident, thieves struck again on the east side.
Nine cars were hit at Open Door Missionary Baptist Church on Woodland
