COA-Dare Dean Tim Sweeney to retire on March 1, 2026

Tim Sweeney, the Dean of the College of Albermarle’s (COA) Dare County campus since 2013, will retire on March 1, 2026.
While there has been no formal announcement, the information was contained in the Personnel Report section of the agenda for COA’s Dec. 9 Board of Trustees meeting. Aside from Sweeney’s pending retirement, the report also indicated that Dawn Van Ness, the administrative assistant to the Dean of COA-Dare, resigned on Nov. 7.
