DALLAS — After months of speculation , North Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is officially running for U.S. Senate, according to the Texas Democratic Party.
Crockett, who's become a national figure in the Democratic party, will face state Rep. James Talarico in the March 3 primary.
At a rally on Monday evening, Crockett said a Republican-controlled Texas is what most people have only known, but that they can't let that diminish their faith of what Texas can be.
"I'm running for this seat because I'm not going to be hung up on the brokenness of the past," Crockett said.
Many people, Crockett said, told her they needed her to stay in the House of Representatives, that they needed her voice there.
