Ontario Provincial Police have launched a criminal investigation into Keel Digital Solutions related to money the Toronto company received from the Ford government.
Keel came to prominence after receiving millions of dollars from the Ministry of Labour’s controversial Skills Development Fund in recent years. The OPP probe is related to other funding the firm received from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
Premier Doug Ford’s office announced last month that it sent the results of a forensic audit to the OPP for review. The government said a 2023 audit of money given to Keel uncovered irregularities.
On Monday afternoon, OPP spokesperson Gosia Puzio said the force’s “anti-rackets branch has completed its review and will be proceeding with an investigation.”
