NUEVO LAREDO, Mex. (KGNS) - U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ronald D. Johnson made his first official visit to Nuevo Laredo, meeting with consulate staff and local officials.

During his time in the border city, Johnson met with staff from the US Consulate to discuss their work and the security challenges they face, according to images shared by the ambassador.

Johnson also met with local leaders, law enforcement and business owners to discuss the economic relationship between Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, Texas, according to a press release from his office.

The Senate confirmed Johnson as ambassador in April.
