COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Six inmates overdosed on fentanyl in the Kootenai County Jail on Saturday and were revived with Narcan, according to a press release from the county sheriff's office.
At around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to two inmates experiencing medical emergencies. According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, jail staff first identified the symptoms of fentanyl overdose and administered Narcan to both inmates, reviving them.
As KCSO deputies were removing the two inmates from the affected section, more inmates began exhibiting symptoms of overdose.
Six inmates in total were administered Narcan and transported to a local hospital for treatment before being returned to jail.
KCSO said "trace amounts" of fentanyl were found inside the jail.
