A 21-year-old Marine has died after a tactical vehicle "mishap" in Southern California, officials said.

The victim was Pvt. First Class Tanner F. Rubio of Dixon, Calif., the Marine Corps said in a news release on Friday, Dec. 5.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton , located 38 miles from downtown San Diego.
