A Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office Cruiser was ready to be stuffed Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children were invited to bring stuffed animals by to College Square Mall’s center court next to where Santa Claus is interviewing inquisitive children for their desires for Christmas gifts.
The annual event has become a popular place to hang out with local deputies and police officers.
“We’re taking up teddy bears and pass them out to all of the patrol officers,” Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins said. “They will put them into their cars to pass out to children. They’ll give them out at wrecks, domestics and situations like that.”
There was a healthy variety of stuffed items presented. In addition to the traditional teddy bears, characters such as SpongeBob were well represented.
