I hate to admit it, but it’s been just about 10 years since I was last a teenager (sigh). And while it’s been that long since I had to deal with high school drama, the woes of puberty, and all those other things that felt so permanent back then, I do remember what it was like to feel let down during the holidays. No matter what I did — whether it was dropping obvious hints or sharing the exact link (we weren’t making wish list presentations back then) — somehow, someway, my parents got it wrong (sorry, Mom!).
