Whether or not Timmins will ever build a new multi-use recreational complex is yet to be determined, as the current council moves in to the final year of its term.
At last week’s city budget meeting, a lengthy presentation led by Jonathan Hack, director with Sierra Planning and Management, provided council with a virtual update on the project.

Much of the discussion revolved around the potential location of a new major facility. The two options presented were on Highway 655, near the junction with Ross Avenue, near Timmins and District Hospital.
The other is in the far west end of the city, off Government Road North, in a rural-industrial area.
