Toledo Public Schools is bracing for millions in state and local funding cuts beginning in 2026, a shortfall that district leaders say will force sweeping changes in how schools operate.

As part of a new Transformation Plan 2.0, administrators are seeking input from parents and the community before final decisions are made this spring.

Ryan Stechschulte, CFO/treasurer at Toledo Public Schools, said the district is looking at $68 million in cuts from the state beginning in fiscal year 2026.

The cuts are coming from $18 million in planned reductions from the 2024 levy, $13 million in negotiated salary and health benefit costs above the forecasted amounts for 2026 and 2027, and $12 million in cuts for both 2026 and 2027.
