The public feedback was entirely negative Friday at a Green Mountain Care Board meeting about Rutland Regional Medical Center’s plan to close its pediatric unit.

The hospital announced plans in October to eliminate the underutilized pediatric unit, handling the majority of its pediatric cases in the emergency room and transferring pediatric patients who need more than 24 hours of care to other hospitals. The plan is subject to review by the Green Mountain Care Board, which heard a presentation from the hospital Friday before getting an earful from the public.
