A mum-of-two stabbed a retired nurse to death so she could score the money she needed to send her daughter to cheerleading camp, a court has found.

Cherie Townsend, 47, killed 66-year-old Susan Leeds on May 3, 2018, after descending on her in the parking structure of a shopping mall in Rolling Hills Estates, California. Townsend plunged the knife into her victim 17 times in what has been described as a "brutal" attack following an attempted robbery.
