The American Farm Bureau Federation said in November that aid was "urgently needed" as farm bankruptcies rose.

President Donald Trump unveiled a $12 billion assistance package for farmers hurt by ongoing trade wars and inflation.

“This relief will provide much-needed certainty to farmers as they get this year’s harvest to market and look ahead to next year’s crops," Trump said in announcing the farm aid during a White House event Monday, Dec. 8.
