GREENWOOD, S.C. —
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a Greenwood woman with forging a deceased person's signature to cash a life insurance policy surrender check.
According to the arrest warrants, around June 9, 2023, Kimberly Denise Holloway forged the signature of a person who had died more than two months prior on a life insurance policy surrender check for $2,028. The check was issued by American General Life Insurance Company.
SLED said that Holloway admitted that she forged the signature and cashed the check.
On Dec. 3, SLED charged the 65-year-old with forgery and obtaining a signature under false pretenses.
The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested SLED to investigate.
Holloway was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center.
