A six-storey building with 99 suites has been approved for Glenmore Drive across from the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.
It will replace three existing single-family homes in the 1200 block of Glenmore. City council on Monday granted the necessary development permit, after hearing from staff that the project conformed to “a majority” of official community plan design guidelines.
“I think the building design is very attractive,” said Coun. Luke Stack, who also praised an over-supply of on-site parking. He said that would help allay some concerns about future residents having to park on nearby streets.
No building variances are required. The properties are along a street, with transit service, where higher densities are being encouraged by the city.
