FORT STEWART, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 5:55 p.m.] WTOC has learned from Fort Stewart officials that law enforcement responded around 4:38 p.m. earlier today to an incident of a “solider in distress.”
Officials say the situation has been resolved and an investigation is ongoing.
Fort Stewart has reached out to confirm that, while an incident occurred, there was no actual shooting.
[UPDATE 5:33 p.m.] The shelter in place order has been lifted, according to Fort Stewart officials.
However, a law enforcement presence remains. Fort Stewart asks for individuals to avoid the area of Bryan Village as there is still an ongoing incident in that area.
A Fort Stewart official has told WTOC that this was an isolated incident contained to Ardennes Ct. on base.
