BYRON, Ill. (WREX) — Sports Illustrated has announced the winner of its latest high school football honor.

Byron's Caden Considine has won High School on SI's National Boys Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 24 through Nov. 30, Sports Illustrated announced on Monday .

Caden was nominated on Dec. 2. He finished with nearly 52% of the vote.

Caden was nominated for his role in helping Byron win the Class 3A state championship .

Byron beat Unity in the championship, and a Unity player, quarterback Dane Eisenmenger, finished second in voting with just over 35% of the votes.

National Boys Athlete of the Week voting for the week between Dec. 1 and Dec. 7 is open online .
