In an effort to reduce delays associated with road construction, the Montana Department of Transportation is taking public comment on new rules for utility companies that need to relocate pipes, lines and cables to make room for state projects.

The proposed rules follow the passage of House Bill 672, brought by Rep. Courtenay Sprunger, a Kalispell Republican, this past Legislative session. Contractors, the Department of Transportation and utility companies worked together on language for the legislation.
